Job Introduction

Based Newhaven/Eastbourne with some hybrid working & with travel to outreach and delivery/donation locations in the local area.

Coastal Routes Recovery are the new Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO) for East Sussex.

A fully autonomous membership based organisation, CRR provide a voice into-action for people in recovery from drug & alcohol addiction. Anyone can join their community of recovery warriors with the benefit being that you can apply for funding for your own group activity, or even a service. Working in partnership with existing services, helping them build on existing provisions & based on the feedback they get from their members, CRR welcomes partnerships of all kinds and are looking to reach out further afield, setting up drop in hubs to find out what people really want from their recovery journey.

This post holder is employed by SCDA but will have a close working relationship with Coastal Routes Recovery Trustees.

With responsibility for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers, helping them to set up relevant activities in line with CRR objectives, you will establish a small grants programme where individuals or groups can apply for a small grant to deliver an activity that supports people in recovery from drug and alcohol.

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the recovery journey through lived or learned experience & knowledge of ways in which someone’s recovery journey can be supported. With significant previous experience of drug and alcohol support, partnership working and negotiation, you will be an organised & excellent administrator; as well as a confident and adaptable communicator.

We are looking for people to join our team who have the qualities and skills we feel would most benefit our service users; professionalism, empathy, kindness and understanding. In return, we recognise people want to work in a supportive environment with friendly colleagues. We offer a flexible approach to delivery wherever possible, annual leave of 23 days per year pro rata plus bank holidays and sick pay from the start (increasing with service), additional sick pay for necessary operations and recovery, a pension scheme, bereavement leave, and managers who are available to you… plus a day off for your birthday!

The vacancy closes at 5pm on Tuesday 29 April 2025, with interviews conducted on Wednesday 7 May 2025 in Newhaven.

You may think that you’re not a 100% match to what we’re looking for, but we recognise that some skills and experience may be transferable rather than an exact match. If you’re unsure about whether to apply, please do contact the HR team on hr@sussexcommunity.org.uk and we would be happy to arrange an informal discussion with the recruiting manager.
