Job Introduction

Deputy Principal (Curriculum, Standards, Teaching and Learning)
The Governors of Claverham Community College are seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal for September 2025 to take responsibility for specific strands of the strategic development and operation of our popular, oversubscribed secondary school, including curriculum, standards, teaching and learning.
We are seeking a candidate who will support the ethos of the College and maintain our current high expectations through their leadership and management of student development, behaviour, and attitudes. The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader with passion, vision, and resilience. They will have demonstrated the capacity to secure high standards and add to the quality of provision in these areas in their current role.
Our ideal candidate should have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, have an excellent strategic approach, and be committed and inspiring. Whilst being proactive in implementing the College’s policies, they should also have the ability to be reactive to situations as they arise. They will also demonstrate a passion for enabling the delivery of high-quality lessons which equip students to become engaged and responsible stakeholders in their own education, thereby making excellent progress and achieving their academic and personal potential.
Claverham Community College, located in Battle, serves a diverse catchment area within East Sussex. In addition to our school provision, we have an onsite nursery and a sports centre.
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment.
