Job Introduction

Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home has the ambition to be the leading Secure Children’s Home in the UK and we’re looking for a creative and innovative teacher who has the passion to achieve this with us!

Vision Statement:

“Our vision is to provide exceptional care, learning and support to the children placed at Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home, and facilitate their successful resettlement back into the community. We will achieve this through providing an enthusiastic and empathic team of staff with an exceptionally well-resourced home that offers a modern, light, nurturing environment, complimented by a first-rate training and development programme. Above all else we will show kindness, and strive for children placed at Lansdowne to feel safe and loved”.

The role requires teaching small groups of highly complex young people who are deprived of their liberty. You will be required to work closely with the Care and Health teams with the priority always being the young person’s well-being.

There may be significant gaps in the young person’s education and the role requires someone who can identify these gaps and put in place a plan with the support of the Head of Learning to ensure effective progression.

The successful candidate will carry out the role of a professional teacher as is required in the circumstances of the home, reporting to the Head of Learning. You will have excellent curriculum knowledge and be able to provide effective teaching, learning and assessment. You must demonstrate a passion to support young people at Lansdowne to achieve and be prepared to teach more than one subject.

The role is challenging but there are also few other roles as rewarding. For full information, please read the attached job description and person specification.
