Job Introduction

The starting salary for this role is £41,127 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a forward thinking, flexible and supportive procurement team?

Orbis is a shared services partnership between Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council. Overall, the councils spend around £1.6bn with external suppliers for everything from software to social care services and from cleaning products to sports equipment, so we have a large Procurement Service which supports customers to deliver better value from our contracts and ensure we source our contracts in an open, fair and transparent way.

Our Data and Analytics team provide an in-depth analysis of all third-party expenditure and procurement related data across multiple councils.

Spanning the macro and micro levels, they can support stakeholders by providing business insights that support data-based decision making. The team provides consolidated reports, drawing information from several industry leading tools and methodologies, and develops bespoke dashboards and reports to inform the wider procurement team on their work and approach.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a professional analyst career in a team that provides a great working environment where you are supported and given a platform to develop.

One of the things that makes Orbis Procurement a great place to work is flexibility. We want candidates to feel confident to ask about the flexibility they need at work. This could be part time, remote working, compressed hours, or job share. Any candidate who applies for a job with us can ask about flexible working. In return, we are committed to exploring what is possible for the role.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Experience of working with data across a range of platforms, using ETL and dashboard tools; in particular FME and Tableau
  • An understanding of SQL databases and report writing tools
  • Excellent customer focus and a commitment to delivering first class services
  • The ability to be proactive and offer innovative ideas for improvements
  • Want to be part of a busy, supportive and friendly team
  • Want to contribute to providing high-quality public services across the South-East
  • Experience in building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Great communication skills

Previous experience in public sector procurement is not essential and we welcome applications from experienced professionals from other sectors.

Our administrative bases are in Reigate (Woodhatch Place), in Lewes (County Hall) and in Hove Town Hall. Some travel to the other offices is required from time to time.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
