Job Introduction

Adoption South East is the Regional Adoption Agency that brings together four successful Local Authority Adoption Services in a partnership, to provide the full range of adoption services across East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and Surrey.  We are looking to recruit an Operations Manager to lead our Eastbourne team and our Adoption Support Services across the Region.

You will be joining us in our second year of operation and in addition to managing a skilled and established social work team in Eastbourne, you will work with the Head of Service to ensure that we  develop a regional service that provides the support that adoptive families need to thrive.

The right candidate will bring significant management experience along with an excellent understanding of the adoption sector. What will help them succeed will be their ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels and they will be comfortable managing the complexity of working across four organisations. They will share our desire to engage with service users in the design and delivery of services and will have a natural ability to take people with them.

The successful post holder will be highly motivated, dynamic, and passionate about adoption with experience of leading a service through change. You will be joining a creative and effective management team, dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for the adoptive families we work with and children that are placed, helping those families to thrive.

You will be working across the Region and employed by East Sussex County Council.  We are currently reviewing our working arrangements however all our teams currently work from home.  Whilst some working from home will continue to be required, there will also be times when travel across the region is required.

Progress your learning and training

At East Sussex we know that our staff are individuals with their own career goals.  So we have created a clear career development pathway, known as Progress, which maps out all the different options and opportunities for enriching and developing individual careers. It enables staff to build on existing skills and develop new knowledge and it provides clarity around the requirements for pay and progression, social work registration and further accreditation.

A wide range of benefits

In addition to a highly-competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Relocation costs of up to £8,000, if you are making a move of more than 20 miles
