The starting salary for this role is £18,764 per annum and is based on a 21.6 working hour week.

If you have experience of project management and delivery, and a passion for improving the physical activity levels and health of our residents, why not apply for this unique role to work across Active Surrey and Surrey County Council’s Libraries Team?

This collaborative role would work alongside Active Surrey and the Surrey County Council Library and Cultural Services team with the shared aim of inspiring new and existing library users to adopt and maintain healthy, active lifestyles.  With a focus on health inequalities the successful candidate would, through a co-design process and based on a test and learn approach, set up a programme of health and exercise themed activations across target libraries.  Their sound knowledge, understanding and experience of stakeholder engagement, project management, community development and health will contribute to the effective and sustained delivery of activity.

Based at Quadrant Court in Woking, with the option for home working, the job will involve spending considerable time within library settings.  Travel costs are reimbursed. The work will also include occasional weekend and evening work.

To be shortlisted for interview, your application will clearly evidence:

  • Extensive experience of delivering community programmes and/or project management
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively, building and maintaining positive relationships with partner organisations, the local community and volunteer networks
  • Experience of engaging with the public to co-design programmes
  • An interest in and knowledge of physical activity and health
  • Budget management experience
  • Excellent IT skills and competency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of best practice in health and safety / safeguarding

We are committed to achieving greater diversity in our team and encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we particularly welcome applications from disabled people and from black, Asian and minority ethnic people, who are under-represented in our workforce.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
